Instagram stamps feet & says it has not lost users
Instagram has shared its user figures to show photo-licensing mess has not resulted in decline…
Photo sharing app Instagram has tried to silence critics and prove that it has not lost users since that whole ‘we are going to sell your photos’ debacle in December.
Instagram back-tracked on saying it was going to alter its terms of service to allow the Facebook-owned system to sell people’s photos without their permission.
Public outcry meant it swiftly backpedalled and pretended the whole thing was just a silly misunderstanding.
However it had been presumed that the incident had caused many people to quit the service, leading usage to decline. Not so shouts Instagram.
They have published user figures for the first time in response to the criticism, saying it has in fact grown. So ner.
The figures say that it brings in 90 million monthly active users and sees 40 million pictures uploaded every day. It also reports having 8,500 Facebook ‘Likes’ and 1,000 comments per second.
However critics say they have not disclosed their daily active user count…the figure that could basically tell geeky analysts if their figures have actually declined. Oh. Awkward.
